about

This is the third EP I've released since I changed up my process because of the tinnitus. It takes a little longer to get things finished now, so sorry about the wait, but I hope you like it.

Waxwing is a song I made with Rachael Dadd. I couldn't believe how much I loved the vocal when I got it from her, and it was so frustrating to hold back working on it while I fixed all the frequencies on my production. The original demo I'd made to send her was aggravating my tinnitus every time I tried to start! Got all that sorted and know exactly how to avoid it in the future, so it was a good educational tool too it turns out. All finished up finally and I'm over the moon with the final song. Thanks Rachael!

In The Scheduled Direction is an instrumental along the same lines as Through the Window on the last EP. It's got a hint of melancholy to it, but it's sort of hopeful too I think. I was in a good mood when I made it, so I think that comes across.

Clearing is another song with Rachael Dadd, but on this one I chopped up the vocal and made something totally new out of it. I had this bass heavy garage style track that I was really enjoying, but I felt like it had an element missing. It turns out it was missing Rachael Dadd repeatedly singing the same word.

Guru is a song I've had around for a long time in all honesty, from right around the time my tinnitus started, so I opened it back up with a hint of hesitation. I've always been really fond of it and production-wise it felt like a natural partner to Clearing in a way, so it's made it's way on to this EP and it feels like a perfect home for it.

Then finally, the last track on the EP is Waxwing (Drumskull Remix). Knowing his music really well and especially after Muscle Memory and Phase Velocity this year, I was half expecting Drumskull to chop the whole thing into pieces and make something super heavy and hard, but he's actually really nicely put his spin on it, but somehow kept the spirt of the original, and it has come out sounding incredible. I hope you agree.

Thanks!
